Schedule:
Volunteer Check-in: 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
Boater Check-in: 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Captain/Crew Safety Briefing: 9:45 a.m.
Press Briefing/People’s
Choice Awards Judging: 10 a.m.
First Race: 10:30 a.m.
Awards and Trophies:
Race Medals: Guaranteed to all registered participants including crew members and boat builders.
Best in Race Award: Awarded by time.
Team Spirit Award: Awarded by judges and crowd based on exceptional team spirit! Costumes, Props, Special Effects, Skits, etc.
The Judge’s Choice Award: Awarded by the judges based on creativity, showmanship.Costumes and propsare encouraged!
People’s ChoiceAward: Awarded to the boat that receivesthe most "votes" (in monetary terms) cast by the spectators prior to the beginning of the boat race.
Most Spectacular Sinking Award: Awarded to the crew who, in the opinion of the judges, was the most spectacular in the way the ship and its crew go down. (As long as the boat or some part of it is propelled by at least one paddling crewmember, the boat may continue along the course to the finish line.)
Where to get your Cardboard:
Cano Container Corporation of Aurora is generously donating 8 sheets of 4’ x 8’ corrugated card board to each boat registered. You may pick up cardboard at: Cano Container Corporation, 3920 Enterprise Court in Aurora, 630-585-7500, Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Ask for Javier or Juan. All other materials you choose to use for your cardboard boat are at your own expense.
