Join the movement that is transforming Super Bowl weekend

into the nation’s largest youth-led weekend of giving and serving

The Souper Bowl of Caring equips and mobilizes schools, businesses and volunteer groups to positively impact our communities by collecting money and/or food during Super Bowl weekend.  100% of the collections are donated directly to our local food pantries.

In collaboration with Jewel-Osco stores, volunteer groups will man the entrances and exits of local grocery stores on Saturday, February 6, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m..  All donations raised in Kane County will support the Aurora Interfaith Food Pantry.  Donations raised in Kendall County will support the Kendall County Food Pantry.

Why participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring?

Households with limited resources often must choose between paying their rent and feeding their families.  Food assistance often can prevent the tragedy of homelessness for people “living on the edge”.

The need to replenish the food pantries is great at the end of January as donations from the holidays have been exhausted and replacement resources diminish at this time.

Due to the current economic environment, more and more individuals need to reach out to the local food pantries to provide meals for their families.

Nearly twice as many people are receiving assistance from our food pantries compared to this time last year.

Hunger and poverty have a negative impact on individuals and the communities in which we live. yet there is joy in serving and giving to those in need.

The excitement and energy surrounding the Super Bowl can be used to engage people in service while producing lasting hope for all people.  Young people have the ability to serve and should be given opportunities to lead their communities in helping others.

Please join us as a volunteer group to help make a real difference to our communities.
